When customers ask me about how long my candles burn, it’s hard to give them an exact number. I provide a range, but that’s because so many things can affect the quality of the burn once the candle reaches your home. The following are a few tips to help you get the best burn time out of your candles.
- Remember to trim your wick! This step starts the burn off on the right foot and prevents smoking or uneven burn.
- Keep your candle out of drafty spots. Things like open windows, air/heat vents and ceiling fans and reduce burn time.
- Make sure your first burn is about 2-3 hours long, or until the wax is melted all the way across the top of the candle. If you don’t burn the candle that long on the initial burn it can cause what’s called tunneling and the wax in the candle will not completely melted.
- Consistently burn your candle for 2-4 hours each time you burn your candle to ensure even melting.
